I became fascinated by the descriptions of lineolated parakeets when I first heard of them several years ago.  Small little gems, about the size of a lovebird, but without the lovebirds' reputation for aggressiveness. They prefer climbing to flying, are inquisitive and are probably the smallest of the 'keets that use their feet to pick up objects.  I joined the lineolated parakeet group on yahoo and spent a couple of years learning as much as I could about them before adding them to my flock.  I got a normal green pair in the fall of '04, Sprite & Seven Up, and then added an aqua and cobalt pair in January of '05.  Much to my surprise, Jake & Elly went to nest very quickly presenting me with two lovely cobalt babies.  I hope to make up a couple of more pair with the addition of three new babies I recently picked up.

The babies May 5 - about 4 weeks old

Jake & Elly

May 17 - looking all grown up.  Here they are with their red rumped buddies who are a week younger but already bigger.

May 27 - We all took our first flight today!

May 27 - Tired after flying - they all decide to indulge in a snuggle fest with their new buddies - a green, a turquoise and a little lutino you can barely see between the two rumpies.
